INFO & HELP
JET5's Anaesthesia Nightmare simulator. Think you are a good anaesthetist? Well just hit the play button and before long you will find out!
Remember you may be dealing with multiple simultaneous problems of varying severity: the debrief will reveal all.
This is a one or two player simulation: work independently as anaesthetists on the same scenario using the comms panel for communication.
There are two AI roles: Surgeon and ODP. The ODP will assist with some interventions and bring additional equipment or drugs when requested.
The AI surgeon—well remember he's doing his best so try and be understanding if in his perpetually fogged mental state he seems less than helpful.
Your final score at the debrief is based on a number of objective measures of management.
The top twenty scores of all time will gain a coveted entry in the JET5 Hall of Fame.
SCENARIOS
Each clinical scenario lasts for 15 minutes. The patient is AI generated—a complex process which ensures that every patient is completely unique.
You select the tariff (degree of difficulty) between 1 and 10 for each scenario.
(A tariff of 0 is for you to try things out, will generate some random problems but will not be scored).
While learning it is best to choose a lowish tariff, but in order to get really high scores you will
have to steel yourself for the formidable challenge of the higher tariff scenarios.
The highest tariffs generate the most difficult and complex scenarios possible within the constraints of the simulation.
If you can tackle these without undue hesitation, unnecessary management, or errors, then
you have the chance of challenging for the Hall of Fame. So are you up for the Nightmare Challenge?
MODELLING
The integrated patho-physiological models include multiple embedded artificial neural networks (ANNs).
The training data have been painstakingly created by experienced anaesthetists to provide clinically
realistic behaviour under a wide range of conditions. You can view the models in real time by clicking
on the "heartbeat" button.
The multi-compartment pharmacokinetic modelling supports Target Controlled Infusions (TCI),
as well as realistic modelling and drug-interactions for all routine and emergency anaesthetic drugs.
BROWSER SUPPORT
The simulation needs access to the following browser features so requires a modern fully standards-compliant browser: current Chrome, Firefox, or Edge.
- Variable fonts: "Bitter" - fast, lean and flexible typeface.
- High-resolution (millisecond) timing: derived from the HTML5 audio routines
- Web Audio API: for sound generation
- CSS 3-D transforms: for the interface
- Sub-pixel font rendering: maximum text clarity
- CSS Columns: for information page layout
- Full HTML5 canvas support (IE has a reduced feature set)
SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT
JET5 uses the following:
- PHP, MariaDB, vanilla Javascript
- Brain.js GPU-accelerated neural networking library
And a lot of time and work :). Enjoy!

ANAES ROOM CUPBOARDS
The highest tariffs generate the most difficult to manage scenarios possible within the constraints of the simulation.
If you can tackle these without undue hesitation, unnecessary management, or errors, then
you have the chance of challenging for the top of the leaderboard. Are you up for this, punk?
